This is the story of how a small change made a huge difference
We have a tendency to put an immense amount of pressure on ourselves. We expect to understand what we are here for and to find our purpose.
But in my world, that’s not how it works. Let me tell you why:
Over time, will all change what we define as the purpose of our lives. Why? Because every day we grow, we evolve and we change our minds!
When I finally understood that I didn’t have to “find” my purpose or my “passion” but that I could choose to take one. day. at a time. it changed my life.
And that’s when I changed the concept of having a “life purpose” into having a “day purpose”.
What a relief. To only have to hold myself accountable for one day at a time.
So, what is my day purpose, you might ask?
To me, every day is a new chance to change direction. And believing this, makes it easier for me to start each day with a clean slate.
For some people, their day purpose is to dedicate their time to humanitarian work, for others, it’s to sing.
My personal day purposes right now are: to learn something new every day and to do one good thing for another person.
In two words, my day purposes right now are: learning and service.
Having integrated these day purposes in my life, has given me an indescribable peace of mind.
Now, you try!
I want you to find your day purposes. If it doesn’t come easily to you, try and ask yourself:
– What makes me feel good about myself at the end of a normal day?
What you need to do next:
Print out this free worksheet (no email required), go to a coffee shop and think about it while sipping on your favorite drink.
The two things that make you feel the greatest at the end of a day, are the two words that you can use to define your day purposes at the moment.
This is not about “finding” your purpose outside of yourself. It’s about trusting that what you feel are your day purposes at the moment are the right ones.
Stay open to the possibility that new purposes and guidance will appear in your life. And always trust, that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, my friend.
